Anies Says Gembrong Market Revitalization Will Be Gradually Starting Next Week

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Governor DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan say, revitalization or repair Gembrong MarketEast Jakarta, the post-fire will be carried out in stages starting next week.

This was conveyed by Anies through his Instagram account, @aniesbaswedan, which was uploaded on Tuesday (3/5/2022).

“God willing, the work on the revitalization of this area will soon be carried out in a relay starting next week,” said Anies, quoted from BetweenTuesday.

The former Minister of Education and Culture did not mention the budget allocated for the improvement of the Gembrong Market area.

However, Anies explained that the renovation involved coordination and collaboration with various parties, starting from the DKI Baznas (Bazis), the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), representatives of residents, as well as the private sector.

Anies said the repairs would prioritize buildings that match the contours of the area, meet the availability of light fire extinguishing equipment, are environmentally friendly and in accordance with the needs of residents.

“Thus, residents affected by the fire can return to occupy better housing,” he added.

In addition to physically revitalizing buildings, the DKI Provincial Government (Pemprov) will also assist residents to understand the concept of a healthy environment including sanitation, lighting, availability of infiltration wells, disaster mitigation and environmental management factors.

Meanwhile, on the first day of Eid, Anies kept in touch with residents affected by the Gembrong Market fire.

“After the Asr prayer at the Al-Hikmah Mosque, we saw that the emergency kitchen team consisting of the collaboration of Baznas Bazis, PMI, Social Service and other volunteers really came together to help the victims,” ​​he said.

Previously it was reported that as many as 400 buildings consisting of houses and Pasar Gembrong stalls burned down on Sunday (4/24/2022) night.

Head of the Operational Section of the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman, said the burned area was about 1,200 square meters.

“The objects burned were 400 buildings consisting of houses and shops in RT 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in RW 01,” said Gatot.
