Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The future presidential candidate Anies Baswedan was branded a traitor. Anies is considered to have lied to his supporting political party, the Democratic Party, regarding the choice of vice presidential candidate (cawapres).
Because of this, Anies also opened his voice after the Democratic Party officially withdrew support for him because he entered into a coalition with the National Awakening Party (PKB).
In the video description received CNN IndonesiaAnies asked all volunteers to remain solid, and hoped that the current political dynamics would not disturb their focus.
Anies’ statement in the video was confirmed by Deputy Chairman of the Anies Volunteer National Confederation (KoReAn) Asri Tada.
“To all volunteers, let’s continue to concentrate on our efforts to make changes. We want a fairer, more advanced Indonesia, and we focus on that. The dynamics that are happening right now don’t disturb our concentration,” said Anies, who was listed as giving a statement to Friday (1/9/2023) evening at 21.00 WIB.
Anies admitted that in time he would provide a clear explanation of the dynamics that occurred, although he did not directly mention the name of the Democratic Party or PKB.
“Later there will be a complete explanation, now we are focused on making changes,” he said.
“And remember we have to be sincere, meaning that we are praised, we don’t fly, we are insulted, we don’t fall, we will live it, God willing, our endeavor will be made easy,” he added.
Finally, Anies also advised all volunteers to remain solid and enthusiastic to fight with him. Moreover, he said, there were only a few months left before the registration for the presidential and vice presidential candidates was officially opened.
“Keep the spirit, keep solid,” he concluded.
Previously, it was reported that the NasDem Party had formed a coalition with the PKB. In that coalition, PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin is said to be accompanying Anies as vice presidential candidate.
The two parties were previously in different coalitions. NasDem previously built a coalition with Democrats and PKS to support Anies Baswedan.
Meanwhile, PKB is part of a coalition supporting Prabowo Subianto with Gerindra, Golkar, PAN and PBB.
The Democrats responded strongly to the NasDem decision. They withdrew support from Anies because Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono failed to become a vice presidential candidate.
