Anies Baswedan Calls for Change in Treatment of Millennials – Presidential Debate 2023

Presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan bringing up millennials who are vice presidential candidates. Anies said that on the other hand, there are millennials who are faced with tear gas when expressing their opinions.

“If we see today that one millennial can become a vice presidential candidate, but there are thousands of generation Z millennials who care about the nation’s children, who care about those who are marginalized, when expressing opinions when criticizing the government is met with violence, they are met with clashes and even with tear gas,” said Anies when conveying his vision in the inaugural debate at the KPU Office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (12/12/2023).

Anies said this condition should not continue. He said that had to change.

“Will it be allowed? We have to make changes, we pay attention to this as a fundamental thing,” he said.

This inaugural debate was guided by two moderators, namely Ardianto Wijaya and Velerina Daniel. The debate will last for 120 minutes.

The themes of the first debate for the presidential candidates were government, law, human rights, eradicating corruption, strengthening democracy, improving public services and citizen harmony.
