TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Kubu Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Reward Pranowo-Mahfud Md unitedly protested the presence of 2 experts proposed by the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka Defense Team at the trial presidential election dispute or Dispute on the Results of the Presidential and Vice Presidential Election (PHPU Pilpres) held by the Constitutional Court or MK Today.
The Anies-Muhaimin National Legal Team (THN Amin) protested the presence Eddy Hiariej as an expert brought by the Prabowo-Gibran Defense Team. Meanwhile, Legal Deputy Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md also protested against the presence of Expert Andi Muhammad Asrun who was brought by the same defense team.

The Anies camp questions Eddy Hiariej
THN Member Amen, Bambang Widjojanto aka BW, questioned Eddy Hiariej as an expert brought by the Prabowo-Gibran camp in the presidential election dispute trial in MK. BW’s objection was conveyed before the Constitutional Justices took the oath of the experts.
“I got information in the news, my friend Eddy, the Corruption Eradication Committee issued a new investigation letter to Eddy,” said BW at the Constitutional Court Building, Jakarta on Thursday, April 4 2023.
For your information, Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej is a Professor of Criminal Law at Gadjah Mada University (UGM). Eddy is also a former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights.
Apart from that, Eddy was caught in a case of alleged bribery and gratification. Eddy was once named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), but he was freed from that status through his pretrial application.
Chief Justice Suhartoyo then asked, “what is the relevance?”
Before BW had time to answer Suhartoyo’s question, laughter was heard from the bench of the Prabowo-Gibran Defense Team. There were voices shouting, like ‘halah!’, ‘so what?’, ‘what’s the relevance?’.
“Please, Panel, reprimand the disrespectful statements from some people,” BW asked the Panel of Judges while pointing to the bench. Prabowo-Gibran.
Suhartoyo then reminded the audience to respect the trial.
BW then explained, “the relevance is that someone who is a suspect, especially in cases of corruption – to respect this Court – should be released as an expert.”
