Angry Israel Boycotted Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, Calls It Terrorism

TEL AVIV – Government Israel again expressed his anger over the decision of the United States (US) ice cream company, Ben & Jerry’s, to end the sale of its products in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories. President Isaac Herzog called the boycott of the company a new form of terrorism.

Herzog, Israel’s new president who is seen as representing the moderate camp, joined the chorus of Zionist anger.

“Boycott [terhadap] Israel is a new kind of terrorism, economic terrorism,” Herzog said Haaretz, Friday (23/7/2021).

“Terrorism is trying to harm the Israeli people and the Israeli economy. We must oppose this boycott and terrorism in any form,” he said.

“The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel does not seek peace, and wants to undermine the very existence of the State of Israel. It targets the Israeli economy,” Herzog added.

Founded in 2005 following a 2004 International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling on the Partition Wall, which the world body declared illegal, the Palestinian-led BDS movement has waged a campaign to end the Israeli occupation and its apartheid regime.

Since its founding, BDS has become increasingly strong especially as Israel’s status as a state practicing apartheid has become impossible to dispute following the publication of several high-profile reports.
