André Veillette, first winner of the IRCM Outreach Award

This award from the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM) aims to reward the sustained action of a scientist to popularize, explain, clarify crucial scientific questions that have an influence on people’s health, in particular by through the media.

Full professor at the Université de Montréal and director of the IRCM’s molecular oncology research unit, André Veillette has contributed and continues to contribute to consolidating public confidence in science.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Dr Veillette continues to share his knowledge and his passion for health research with the public, interacting daily with journalists and emphasizing the importance of health research in our lives,” said Dr.r Jean-François Côté, scientific director and interim president of the Institute.

Recently, the Dr Veillette was part of the COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force, set up by the Government of Canada to deal with the pandemic. For many years, he has been actively involved in groups of stakeholders dedicated to the advancement of health research.
