André van Duin is Broadcaster of the Year: ‘I think it’s a great honour’ | show

The 74-year-old Van Duin has been a viewing figure gun for Omroep MAX in recent years. He presents, among other things, the hits All of Holland Bakt in Thinking of Holland, which millions of people tune into.

Van Duin is pleased with his award. “It is a great honor for me to receive this award.” He says about his work: ,,I’ve always done things that I liked. In terms of humor if I liked it, I hoped someone else could laugh at it too. Afterwards I made people cry more.” Laughing, he adds: “If I could cry about it, others can cry too.”

The award is presented annually by Broadcast Magazine. Van Duin is the 31st winner. In recent years, John de Mol, Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, Jan Slagter, Humberto Tan, Floortje Dessing and Eva Jinek, among others, preceded him. The names of Beau van Erven Dorens and Jeroen Pauw are also on the challenge cup. Van Duin: ,,I think it’s very special that I’m on this list. It does give prestige. Broadcaster of the year then you come in differently.”

The ceremony was held in a small circle on Monday. Due to corona, only previous winners were welcome at the ceremony.
