Representatives from Indonesia reached a new milestone in the event Miss Grand International 2022. While not taking home the main crown, Andean Julie won second place title 2.
The Miss Grand International 2022 final was held at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) on Tuesday (10/25/2022) night. For the first time, Indonesia is hosting an international beauty contest that has existed since 2013.
The cheers of support for Andina from the audience who attended the event continued to echo throughout the event. Their cheers rose when the 21-year-old woman’s name was announced as Runner-Up 2.
The title of Miss Grand International 2022 did not fall into the hands of Andina. But at least, her success is better than last year. At Miss Grand International 2021, Sophia Rogan’s steps to become the winner were interrupted in the top 10 round. Indeed, her predecessor, Aura Kharisma, finished runner-up in Miss Grand International 2020.
Holding a round 5 ticket, Andina Julie stood side by side with representatives from Brazil, Thailand, the Czech Republic and Venezuela. At this stage, they have to answer questions about the wars between Russia and Ukraine.
Andina got the second round and chose to answer the questions in Indonesian after previously making a statement in English.
“I would say to President Putin, no violence brings kindness. I grew up in a family that taught love, compassion and kindness. It taught me that kindness is the pillar of peace,” he said.

He then concluded: “With peace, we can see the smiles of children. With the smiles of children, with a bright future. Because the future of children is the cornerstone of a country’s progress”.
Their responses became one of the important assessments for the jury. The judges involved this year are mainly from Indonesia. There are Atalarik Syah, Luna Maya and the famous dentist Drg. Devya Linda. Miss Grand International 2013 Janelee Chaparro and Miss Grand International 2014 Less Garcia also joined the jury.
