With eleven vineyards, Andenne can claim the title of capital of viticulture in Wallonia. Since 2017, a municipal ASBL has been helping local producers.
Behind this original project by a local authority, we find Claude Eerdekens, bourgmestre of this vast Namur entity which brings together nine villages. Convinced of the positive impact of global warming, he brought together a handful of local players two years ago and created VignAndenne, an ASBL whose chairmanship was entrusted to the winemaker Guy Durieux.
“One of the first tasks of the ASBL, explains the mayor enthusiastically, been to order from the University of Liège and the faculty of Gembloux, the inventory of all the land located north of the Meuse, up to the motorway, to identify all those that would be suitable for viticulture. (.. .)
