The Australian McCormick family got a very cute surprise for Christmas. In their Christmas tree there was a very large and fluffy bauble: a young, wild koala was hiding there. “The dog went straight to the Christmas tree, which was a bit strange,” says the 16-year-old daughter of the family. “Christmas balls were scattered on the floor and suddenly … we saw the koala in the tree!” The koala also flatly refused to leave its new hiding place.

In the meantime, the koala also feasted on the plastic (!) Needles from the tree, so the family called a rescue service. They first thought it was a very late April 1 joke, but were eventually convinced to move the koala to a more natural habitat.
