The weather forecaster Anastasia Stoycheva from NIMH clarifies what weather awaits us in the new week and further in an interview for Focus-news.net
– After the warming over the weekend, what weather awaits us this week?
– We start the week again with a cold invasion, during which it will rain in many areas. With the cold in the Fore-Balkans and the high valley fields in Northwestern Bulgaria, the rain will turn into snow. Around the Danube River and most of the Danube Plain, precipitation will remain from rain.
Monday and Tuesday will be mainly the new process, which will have significant rainfall. They will be mainly in the Northwestern half of the country. Temperatures will drop on Tuesday as well. The minimum will be mostly between 0 and 5 degrees, the daily – between 2 and 7, and a little higher – up to 10-11 degrees, will be in the southeastern regions, where we expect precipitation to be least.
– After a past week, during which there was rain and snow, will winter time return in the long run?
– This is the new situation in which the temperatures will drop and by Friday they will be lower than usual for mid-March. There will be short-term and not very significant warming around Friday and Saturday. The rainy situation that is coming towards the end of the new week, ie. as of Saturday and Sunday, again suggests rain in many parts of the country.
For now, I could not specify what the quantities will be, but at the beginning of next week – from March 22, we expect a cold snap again. There is an increased probability that the rain will turn into snow again in the Fore-Balkans and in the high valley fields.
Like the whole new next week, and the next from March 22 onwards, we remain in a dynamic time, during which days will change, in which temperatures will rise briefly, after which there will be another cold invasion, during which we expect rain turns into snow.
– The astronomical spring is coming soon, should we expect permanent warming?
Anastasia Stoycheva: Spring comes on March 20 at 11.37. No more permanent warming is seen so far. The second half of the third 10-day weather will be a little more stable with higher temperatures, rather March.
Until then, we remain at an increased probability of cold invasions in passing atmospheric disturbances, such as Mediterranean cyclones, through our country or near it. The dynamic weather, accompanied by precipitation, in separate areas and significant in quantities, is forthcoming in the next 10 days.
It should be noted that this process will be the first mass thunderstorms in the southern and eastern regions, Tomorrow on the passing cold front will be such phenomena.
– What will be the weather in the mountains?
– It will definitely snow in the mountains. Rainfall will be more significant on Monday and Tuesday. Then on the Stara Planina ridge, in Srednogorie and on Vitosha we expect significant snowfall. In the Rila-Rhodope region, mainly in the Rila part, we also expect the snow cover to increase by between 10 and 35 cm.
