The two months of confinement that the French population has just experienced represent “an opportunity to massively reduce the transmission of HIV,” say several associations, which offer “a major screening campaign” before resuming more intense sexual activity.
Called “Test yourself before sex”, this campaign of Aids, Paris without AIDS and the Corevih Arc Alpin, offers “sending free self-tests at home on simple request”, “in priority to key populations most exposed “at risk of infection.
“Little – or no – sex for two months, this means little or no recent exposure to HIV and STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections, Editor’s note). It is also, for people who have been infected shortly before confinement, the certainty that they produced enough antibodies during these two months so that the positive result of a rapid test of HIV leaves no doubt on its interpretation, “they argued in a statement.
For these reasons, the deconfinement started on Monday represents an exceptional “opportunity” to “allow a maximum of people to know their HIV status and to treat a possible infection before returning to a more active sex life”, they add.
By blood screening, Trod (rapid diagnostic orientation test), self-test or self-sampling kit, “depending on the possibilities available in the different territories to comply with the health security measures in force, everyone will be able to access a suitable solution for testing yourself and taking stock of your sexual health. “
