Speaking to Gazeta.Ru, the specialist notes that the main causes of skin cancer are damage to the skin due to ultraviolet radiation. They can be caused by sunburn or ultraviolet radiation, such as from a solarium. Therefore, the skin must be protected as much as possible from these factors.
He adds, stressing that even in cloudy weather, ultraviolet rays reach the skin through clouds and clouds. Therefore, the easiest way to protect oneself from these rays, when staying in the open sun for a long time, is to wear special clothing that protects the skin from UV damage, such as swimming suits that cover almost all parts of the body.
Doctors recommend applying sun protection products to exposed areas of the body – creams, sprays and other lotions sold in pharmacies. It must provide a sun protection level (SPF) of more than 30. A cover must be placed on the head that covers the ears and neck as well.
The expert advises not to use solariums, because no one there determines the level of ultraviolet radiation required, so it is easy to get skin burns.
And he says: “If something that raises suspicion and concern appears on the skin, such as spots or moles, and they grow and change within 2-3 years, then an oncologist or dermatologist should be consulted, to ensure that it is not a malignant tumor.”
