An oil tanker was hijacked in the Gulf of Oman

According to unofficial information, the vessel was taken over by forces supported by Iran

An oil tanker was hijacked in the Gulf of Oman off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, world agencies reported.

Maritime security sources quoted by Reuters suggest that Iranian-backed forces have seized the tanker.

According to them, it is about the Panamanian-flagged ship “Asphalt Princess”, located in an area of the Arabian Sea, leading to the Strait of Hormuz.

The British Maritime Trade Service has announced a “possible hijacking” of a ship off the UAE.

Iran’s foreign ministry has described “suspicious” reports of shipwrecks off the coast of the UAE today and warned against trying to create a “fake atmosphere” against Tehran.

The British Times also reported that the ship “Asphalt Princess” was hijacked. The publication referred to British sources, according to which the possibility of Iranian military or Tehran-related elements boarding the ship is allowed.

According to the Marinetraffic website (marinetraffic.com), at least four ships off the coast of the UAE have reported today that they have lost control over unclear circumstances. These are the tankers “Queen Emata”, “Golden Diamond”, “Jag Puja” and “Abyss”, according to the Associated Press.
