The Aix-d’Angillon. An introduction to the use of a defibrillator. Two introductory sessions on the use of a defibrillator were given on Saturday morning at the nursing home. These sessions were led by Yann Perraud, adult safety trainer, and Gérard Jollet, president of blood donors.
In the morning, twelve people were present. Some have had their extinguisher checked by Groupama. In the afternoon, eight people came from neighboring towns, Achères, Morogues and Pigny.
This training made it possible to learn the first steps, when to use the defibrillator, to place the electrodes… It is even possible to use it on an infant with some precautions. In 45% of cases, the person is saved thanks to the use of the defibrillator. And if necessary, the time to find it, learning to do cardiac massage is not useless …
Before performing these actions, it is recommended that the person be placed on a flat, hard surface. The defibrillator was offered by the association of blood donors, in partnership with Groupama and MMA. Cost: 1,500 euros on average without the installation. The check should be done once a year.
The volunteer trainers took the time for additional explanations, such as first aid in case of bleeding or choking for example.
At the end of the session, the facilitators went around the table to get to know each other’s feelings, in order to be able to improve the training if the need arises.
