A 6-year-old girl was injured while going down an escalator in a shop in a mall in Veliko Tarnovo, the local website reported borba.bg.
The incident happened on Sunday afternoon, and a signal for what happened was given around 16:00. An ambulance team went to the scene and transported the child to MOBAL “Dr. Stefan Cherkezov”.
The little patient was taken in by the on-duty team, which found that the girl had a large open wound on her lower leg. Surgical suturing was required. The medics decided that there was no need to hospitalize the child and he was released for home treatment.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, a large proportion of escalator injuries have been reported in children. The advice to parents is to always check that the laces of the children’s shoes are tied, to hold their heirs by the hand while using the facility and not to allow them to sit on the railing.
