An enraged depositor attacked the local branch of Credit Libanais located in the Chhim locality in the Chouf region, southeast of Beirut. The latter, accompanied by his family, would have acted following the refusal of his bank to let him have part of his savings intended to purchase the drugs necessary for his wife’s anticancer treatments.
He has since threatened to burn down the bank branch.
This news comes the day after the action considered by many Lebanese to be heroic, by a 90-year-old woman who had organized a sit-in inside her bank branch, demanding the return of her savings, estimated at 20,000 dollars.
