The US Food and Drug Administration announced today, Thursday, a recommendation to five drug manufacturers to withdraw a drug used to treat diabetes after it discovered high levels of impurity that could cause cancer in some versions of this drug, as published by the “EG24 News” website.

The Food and Drug Administration confirmed that it would post withdrawal notices to companies on its website, such as the Canadian company “Abbotex” which produces the drug “metformin” which contains high levels of carcinogenic impurities “N-nitrosodimethalamine”.
