Amphia moves one corona patient again, press IC down for regular care

BREDA – Another corona patient was moved from the Amphia hospital to a hospital elsewhere in the country on Thursday afternoon. In total, 26 patients have now moved from the Breda hospital. These removals take place to reduce the pressure on the ICs and make way for regular care.

Today, another corona patient was picked up by a trauma helicopter from Amphia hospital. This patient was transported to an intensive care unit elsewhere in the country. The pressure on these ICs is even less than in Brabant at the moment. This type of ‘patient relocation’ has been taking place since March 19.

Regular care

The daily update of Amphia shows a slight decrease in the number of corona patients in the Breda hospital in recent days. In total, 35 people are still being treated with the virus in Amphia. That seems good news. And some people wonder why these patient moves are still going on. “The number of patients in total is decreasing, but the ICs are still relatively busy,” said an Amphia spokeswoman. “In order to relieve some of the pressure from these ICs, we are moving COVID-19 patients to places where this pressure is less great. In this way, we try to keep places in intensive care available for new corona patients and for regular care,” says the spokeswoman. “We are slowly trying to resume regular care, but IC beds must also be available for this. That is why relocations are still taking place.”
