Guyger lived in the same apartment complex as Jean, but downstairs where he said he made a mistake and mistook him for a suspect while entering the unit. She argued that he shot him because he feared for his life.
Guyger’s lawyer said last year that he would appeal the verdict in court and ask to have it removed or to be sentenced to a lesser charge. However, with this latest result, attorneys can still submit a new appeal.
