With more opportunities to go out for work and private life, many people are probably thinking about renewing their mobile environment. The 13th generation model “Fire Max 11” of the tablet “Fire” series, which Amazon Japan will release on June 14, has evolved from the conventional reading-centered usage to a tablet that allows creative actions. Since I had the opportunity to borrow Fire Max 11, I will tell you about its usability.

11-inch high-definition display and faster processing power
The Fire Max 11 is the first Fire tablet with an 11-inch display. The resolution of the display is 2000 x 1200 dots. It has TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification. Since it is 11 inches, I was able to enjoy the immersive feeling even when watching a movie with “Amazon Prime Video”, and I could feel the depth of the image.
When the display is set to “show mode”, it switches to the same display as the smart display “Echo Show”. If you put it in your living room and call it “Alexa”, you can check the weather, news, etc. Linking with Alexa-enabled smart home products will be described later.

The main body size is 259mm in height x 163.7mm in width x 7.50mm in depth, and the weight is 490g. The body is made of aluminum and is gray only. The power button on the main unit has a built-in fingerprint sensor, and unlocking by fingerprint authentication is possible.

Equipped with an octa-core processor of up to 2.2GHz and 4GB of RAM, it is said to be about 50% faster than the “Fire HD 10 Plus”. In the benchmark measurement by “AnTuTu Benchmark”, the overall score “418770” was recorded.

The storage is 64GB or 128GB, which can be expanded up to 1TB with an optional microSD card. You can safely store videos and files.
It has an 8-megapixel front and rear camera, capable of shooting 1080p video, and only the rear camera supports autofocus.
Wireless LAN supports “Wi-Fi 6” (compliant with 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax). It has one USB Type-C (2.0) connector, which can be used for charging and audio. Bluetooth is 5.3 and supports A2DP stereo headphones.
The battery is 7500mAh and is said to run for up to 14 hours. When I tried it, it was almost 0% after about 2 days of use. As for the usage style, I watched Prime Video for about 9 hours, used drawing apps and light work with Office apps during the day, and left it on standby while sleeping. As a bodily sensation, I had enough battery life. It took about 4 hours to charge.

The Fire Max 11 has its own keyboard cover and stylus pen, which can be purchased separately or as a set.
The stylus pen can be used for writing on PDFs and drawing such as sketches. Compatible with USI 2.0 regulations, it can be used simply by inserting the included battery (AAA battery), and can be attached to the side of the tablet with a magnet. The battery is said to last up to 9 months. The size of the pen is about 15 cm and the weight is 20 g (both actual measurements). Although it is not an Amazon genuine product, it is a “Made for Amazon” certified model that was worked with the development team within Amazon.
There is no particular delay in writing, and it is easy to write fine lines. It can be used when you want to take handwritten notes or type in handwritten text fields.

The cover with keyboard has a Japanese layout and a built-in trackpad. The trackpad supports pinch zoom and two-finger scrolling. When I asked the public relations about the key pitch, I got an answer that it was 17.8 mm. The battery is pogo pin connected and powered by the tablet. The keyboard is thin and can’t be said to be easy to type, but it has a firm hardness and does not bend, making it easy to use for this kind of product.
The cover can also be used as a stand with the back cover half open. It is convenient for watching videos and using in show mode.
The total weight of the front and rear covers is about 415g (measured value). When attached to the main unit, it weighs about 905g. It may be heavier than a notebook PC, so if you carry it with the assumption that you will attach a keyboard, you should consider this weight. In addition, covers without keyboards are also sold in three colors.
