“Dear people, the heart of our little star Amaya has died.” This was announced on Facebook by Kaloyan Abrashev, the father of the little child, for whose new heart the whole of Bulgaria collected money.
After the last appeal for help in less than a day, over BGN 700,000 was raised so that the little girl could fly to India for an emergency heart transplant.
Before breaking the sad news of Amaya’s death, her father wrote that the flight scheduled for today had been delayed due to technical problems.
Funds for the child were raised through direct account donations and through charitable initiatives across the country.
The little girl suffered from cardiovascular disease and needed a heart transplant. The last hope his parents had surgery at a clinic in India.
The child’s father asked for understanding at this difficult time for the family. “Please let my wife and I grieve at this difficult time,” he wrote on the post about Amaya’s death.
