Amanda Seyfried’s Sun-Drenched Sanctuary: A Stunning Transformation in New York City

Amanda Seyfried: Visiting the Hollywood actress in New York City.

Desiring to transform her New York City apartment into a sun-drenched sanctuary, Hollywood actress Amanda Seyfried commissioned architects General Assembly to do the conversion. The historic building from 1907 consists of three former staff quarters. Guided by a previous collaboration, she trusted creative minds Sarah Zames and Colin Stief, founders of General Assemblyto turn your living visions into reality. Despite the challenges and restrictions imposed by the historic building’s monument protection requirements, the two ingeniously exploited the potential of the apartment and are primarily concentrating on designing a new floor plan. So they put the three apartments together, laid a new floor and thus created an airy living space.

With extensive renovation work, they created a quiet, bright and open home that hides one or the other historical detail. Custom-made fixtures, soft colors, neutral and warm wood tones create a minimalist concept and ensure a certain zen moment. The main roles? Play a series of dramatic arched windows, allowing in adjustable natural light through custom shutters, offering privacy without spoiling the scenic views of the surrounding charming buildings. With this stunning transformation, General Assembly has created a place where Amanda Seyfried can live just a stone’s throw away during her rehearsals for the Broadway reboot of Thelma & Louise.
