“Am I going to die?”: The girlfriend who went viral on video during an explosion in Beirut spoke

The disaster left thousands of wounded and at least 135 dead. According to official versions, there were tons of explosive material in the port that were kept for years.

“There are no words to explain what happened. I was shocked, I was wondering what was happening, am I going to die? How am I going to die?“said the 29-year-old in conversation with the agency Reuters, after the video went viral.

Seblani is a doctor and, after the shock, the first thing he did was assist wounded people that were close to her.

Her husband, Lebanese businessman Ahmad Subeih, convinced her to go ahead and return to the same place as the photo shoot a day later.

The woman related that they had been preparing for the wedding for weeks and traveled to Beirut from the United States in July, where she watched and worked: “I was so happy. My parents were going to see me in a white dress, I was going to look like a princess.”

“I feel so sad about what happened to Lebanon (…) There is so much damage, many people died and were injured. But I watch us, with my husband, the photographer, how we escaped without injury. I thank God for protecting us, “he said.
