The Upper Austrian aluminum manufacturer will introduce short-time working from April 1st. However, production will continue.
The global corona pandemic is now also having a noticeable impact on the demand for products from the aluminum manufacturer AMAG. Therefore, from April on the site in Ranshofen (Braunau district) will be converted to short-time work. Production will continue because the company has been classified as a systemically relevant company.
1,900 employees
Plant closings in the automotive industry in particular, but also declines in mechanical and plant engineering and construction made this step necessary. As a major supplier of aluminum strips for the packaging of pharmaceuticals, food and animal feed, AMAG, which employs 1,900 people in Ranshofen alone, is classified by the Federal Ministry of the Interior as a “critical infrastructure” for supplying the Austrian population.
