“Altmark Tourism Day: Focus on Digital Marketing and Open Data”

Digital tourism marketing is the focus of the tourism day for the Altmark at Gut Zichtau near Gardelegen. At the invitation of the Altmark regional marketing and tourism association, tourism professionals, clubs, associations and politicians want to exchange views on the topic of “More awareness through open data and networking” this Wednesday. Workshops are also planned, for example on digital business models in tourism or the importance of guest reviews on the Internet. Cybercrime is also an issue, it said. The speakers include Eric Horster from the German Institute for Tourism Research.

The sparsely populated Altmark in the north of the state consists of the districts of Stendal and Salzwedel and is one of the five travel areas in Saxony-Anhalt. Here the focus is on “gentle tourism” with lots of nature and deceleration, for example when cycling. One attraction is the Green Belt, but cities like Havelberg or Salzwedel also attract guests.

According to the investment and marketing company, around 3.1 million arrivals and around 7.9 million overnight stays in accommodation facilities with ten and more beds were recorded in Saxony-Anhalt in the previous year. The average length of stay was therefore 2.5 days.
