A Twitter user posted the alternative ending to the classic Titanic. 1.2 million clicks and media coverage were the result.
The Angels – The US film freak Pat Brennan would not have expected that: he recently posted the alternative ending to the hit film Titanic on Twitter and landed a viral hit with millions, plus the attention of numerous media.

In truth, the material was not new, it was already haunted in 2005 on one of the countless DVD versions of the film, as is current Independent reported. But hardly anyone seems to have noticed at the time.
The horror was correspondingly great. Because the reason why the material now went viral is awesome: The alternative ending is involuntarily weird, for many just terribly bad!
Memory: Towards the end of the original film, viewers see Old Rose (Gloria Stuart) standing on the deck of the Keldysh ship, floating over the long-sunk Titanic.
All alone Rose reaches into her pocket and pulls out the “Heart of the Ocean” diamond necklace, which was believed to be lost. After a short pause, she throws the treasure that Brock Lovett (Bill Paxton) and his team have been looking for for years into the ocean.
And that happens in the version that luckily never made it into the final version of the film (see video below):
Again Rose stands at the railing of the Keldysh and holds the treasure in her hand. But this time Brock Lovett shows up with his team and tries to stop them from throwing the blue heart into the sea.
The old lady is not deterred and throws the diamond necklace into the ocean again. Much to the horror of the team. As soon as the jewel is off board, one of the men snorts at her: “That sucks, lady!”

Meanwhile, Brock Lovett looks horrified into his empty hand, in which he was allowed to hold the heart for a few seconds. A little later he starts laughing as if he had lost his mind.
The horror of the Twitter community was correspondingly great. 1.2 million have clicked the alternative ending so far. Many could hardly contain themselves, wrote comments like these:
- “I wish I had never seen that”.
- “This is so bad it’s like a parody!”
- “Do you think with that ending he would have won eleven Oscars including best picture?”
Conclusion: Many would have cried at the end of Titanic for other reasons if this ending had made it into the final version …
