Already more than 1,000 active corona patients in Vienna – Vienna

The number of confirmed corona cases in Vienna has grown again in the last 24 hours. There are now over 1,000 active sick people.

The Vienna State Medical Directorate and the City of Vienna’s medical crisis team provide regular information on the current number of cases and other key figures on the Covid-19 virus.

As of Tuesday (8 a.m.), 6,332 positive tests have been confirmed in the federal capital. On Monday yesterday there were 6,186 cases. The number of virus-related deaths is 207. According to the Ministry of Health’s official Covid-19 dashboard, there are currently 1,042 active corona sufferers. For comparison: on Monday there were still 939 active cases.

So far in August, 73.9 percent of all new positive findings can be traced back to level 1 contacts. At the time of testing, they were already in home quarantine and further dissemination was thus prevented at the time of testing.

Test road expanded for returnees from Croatia

These level 1 contacts are tested in Vienna, regardless of whether they have symptoms or not. As part of contact tracing, 16,578 level 1 contact persons were identified, separated and tested in the last 14 days alone. In July alone, the source of the infection could be traced in over 97 percent of the cases.

The test road set up by the City of Vienna for those returning from Croatia who were in Croatia between August 7th and 16th has been well received. Just yesterday, Monday, 1,435 people who came on foot or by car had themselves tested. The test roads were expanded to cope with the large number of visitors.

5,083 people defeated the virus in Vienna and have recovered. The health hotline 1450 has taken 2,851 calls. The service number of the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) on 0800 555 621 provides information for the population.
