The Lord of the Rings series is not yet available, but there are already comments.
Actor Ludi Lin is not very pleased with the Lord of the Ringsseries of Amazon Prime Video. He feels that the cast of the series is not diverse enough.
Serial Lord of the Rings was announced in 2017 and will run for several seasons. The series is set before the events of The Hobbit, and is in the news a lot. That while there have been no trailers and a release date is not yet known.
Not diverse enough
A lot of coverage focuses on the gigantic budget Lord of the Rings gets. That is said to amount to nearly half a billion dollars, which, according to Amazon, is necessary to be able to construct the world of Middle Earth in a convincing way.
Lin retweeted that, with the side note: “It’s hard to justify building a ‘gigantic world’ without characters that look Asian”.

More than thirty cast members have already been announced for Lord of the Rings and almost all of the cast members are white. A painful choice for Amazon, given the current discussions around diversity.
