Since violence broke out in Nagorno-Karabakh, some 600 soldiers and civilians have been killed. Despite the truce announced last weekend, the death toll is rising.
Armenian military officials today reported another 16 soldiers killed, AP news agency writes. That would bring the total number of fallen to 532.
The actual death toll is probably higher. Azerbaijan does not report military deaths. Both countries claim to have hit opponent targets regularly, resulting in military losses.
Civilian casualties
According to authorities in Azerbaijan, 42 civilians have been killed in two weeks. According to Artak Beglaryan, human rights ombudsman in the area, at least 31 civilian casualties were reported, AP reports. Hundreds of people were injured.
