TRIBUNJATIM.COM, MADIUNCases of finding HIV and AIDS in Madiun District still increasing every year.

Over the past three years, there have been an additional 277 HIV and AIDS patients who were assisted by the Madiun District Aids Management Commission (KPAD).

Or if we add up as of November 2021, there are 957 PLWHA (people with HIV and AIDS) who are under the assistance of the Madiun Regency KPAD.

Madiun Regency KPAD Program and Finance Manager, Lenny Dwi Ambarsari said that there is still a greater potential for additional PLWHA that has not been found in Madiun Regency.

“The national estimate for Madiun Regency is at 1521 cases, while those we are assisting are still 957 cases. This means that there are 500 more cases that we have not found and are still on the loose,” said Lenny, Monday (6/12/2021).

The national estimate of the number of PLWHA is updated every 4 years with a number of variables ranging from risk groups, to the PLWHA partners themselves.

More than 500 cases have not been detected because of many things. The first is the lack of mobile visity services.

“Due to this pandemic, our visit to the hospital was also slightly disrupted because the focus was on handling Covid-19,” he continued.

In addition, the emergence of new prostitution locations also makes it difficult for officers to collect data on HIV and AIDS cases.
