SUFFICIENT PASSENGER VOLUME IN THE TWO CITIES

The results of the feasibility study for an Alma-Roberval-Montreal air service were conclusive. The volume of users would be sufficient to move forward with the cooperative project. The $ 20,000 mandate revealed that Montreal would be the most popular destination with 2,300 annual passengers.

In March, the cities of Alma and Roberval entrusted a mandate of just over $ 20,000 to Explorer Solutions to validate the needs for regular commercial flights from Lac-Saint-Jean, that is to say from airports in Alma and de Roberval.

According to the results, Montreal accounts for a quarter of trips, while the annual passenger volume is estimated at 2,367 people.

Between six and eleven flights would be necessary depending on the type of aircraft used, either a King Air 100 or a Pilatus PC-12. The projection produced does not take into account flights to a destination in the South.

A ticket price analysis was also done. The survey concluded that the price tolerance for a return flight to Montreal is around $ 500.

Through the survey, the population of Jeanne and the business community were questioned about their air transport habits and needs.

During this process, 345 companies, 462 people and five travel agencies from the Lac-Saint-Jean RCMs were surveyed regarding requests, destinations, schedules and frequency of flights.

The survey was carried out at a cost of $ 20,885, of which $ 9,000 was assumed by Roberval and $ 11,885 by the Alma-Lac-Saint-Jean-Est Innovation and Development Corporation (CIDAL).
