  • Karl-Heinz Rummenigge speaks of one Allianz Arena for 100,000 spectators.
  • The FC Bayern have this capacity because of the TSV 1860 Munich cannot meet.
  • City of Munich now answers a request whether an expansion of capacity would be possible.

Munich – FC Bayern remained an international title
* in its Allianz Arena so far denied

In 2022, the record champions will most likely have the next chance, if that Champions League final after 1997 and 2012 for the third time in Munich increases.

Allianz Arena: FC Bayern Munich dreamed of 100,000 spectators

The “Drama dahoam” 2012, which FC Bayern * lost to Chelsea, showed that the stadium was the right setting for such an event. And yet would have Karl-Heinz Rummenigge apparently like an even bigger stadium.

After its completion in 2005, the capacity was Allianz Arena* from 66,000 viewers at that time to 75,000 viewers by 2015. Rummenigge in contrast, even dreamed of 100,000 spectators.

Rummenigge about Allianz Arena: “Franz Beckenbauer always said …”

The boss of the double winner had that in December when he visited the BavariaFan clubs “Antisental” indicated in Austria.

Franz Beckenbauer always said: let’s build a 100,000-man stadium. These 30,000 more would have cost a lot more money back then – I estimate 250 million, ”saidRummenigge loud image and said: “The four-figure club could never have done that.”

Background: The FC Bayern and city rivals TSV 1860 Munich had planned and built the arena at the time.

The cost of the loan for the construction quickly overwhelmed the “Munich Lions”, which is why the Giesinger had to sell their stake in the football temple to the unloved neighbors – for a manageable eleven million euros at the time.

Allianz Arena: City of Munich comments on the FC Bayern stadium

So let’s go Rummenigge, only the (much smaller) city rival prevented the construction of a stadium for 100,000 spectators. The the FC Bayern would currently get into his stadium every time. Rummenigge’s reverie was now also an issue in Munich City Hall.

Specifically, had The Bavaria Party an inquiry to Mayor Dieter Reiter of the SPD posed. The questions in it: Are there currently expansion plans, yes or no? And would an expansion of capacity in Fröttmaning be possible at all?

City of Munich: FC Bayern should not have built with the TSV 1860

The department for urban planning and building regulations now said: “An expansion of the spectator capacity is probably not feasible according to the current factual and legal situation.”

As the responsible city planner Elisabeth Merk (non-party) further stated in her answer, the department was also not aware of any requirements according to which the Bavaria the arena should have been built with the sixties.

Munich: The rivalry between FC Bayern and TSV 1860 is alive

Because that too had Rummenigge claimed at the fan club visit. Accordingly, the city has the Bavaria in partnership with the TSV 1860 “Driven in. Either partnership with the four-figure club or there is no approval ”. The Munich city administration now contradicts this.

The Allianz Arena remains in the order of magnitude as it stands. And the rivalry between red and blue lives on anyway in the Bavarian capital.
