Allergy reported – died

Joe Dobson, 19, died of an allergic reaction after eating a sesame-containing burrito while on vacation in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

Coroner Mark Taylor at the Coroner’s Office in South London says: according to several British media.

Taylor read an affidavit containing testimony from two of Dobson’s friends who were with him when it all happened.

In the statement, a friend says that when he ordered the burrito, Joe asked that it didn’t contain sesame and that he did it in Spanish.

It also says there was communication between the restaurant employees to make sure the burrito didn’t contain sesame.

– When the food arrived it was sent back, because Joe suspected it contained sesame, has the girl according to Metro He says.

So he would try to tell the staff that he would die if he ingested sesame. However, the burrito must have been sent back.

When he retrieved the food, he is said to have taken two bites of the burrito, before confirming that it definitely contained sesame.

– He said he needed an ambulance, but the employees hesitated, the friend said according to Metro.

A male friend of the late Briton also spoke on the matter. He confirms that Dobson tried to tell the staff about his allergy and says that after eating a bite of burrito, they tried to offer him a drink with lemon and honey.

Rumor has it that he wasn’t wearing the epipen, and so the group went back to the hostel where they were staying.

Too late

By the time they got hold of it, it was already too late.

Coroner Mark Taylor is from Metro quoted that death should have been avoided and believes Dobson did everything possible to warn the restaurant.

– It’s very clear that the reaction was caused by the restaurant’s food containing sesame, the medical examiner said, according to Metro.

It does not appear which restaurant is in question, nor if the British media have tried to contact them for comment.
