In order to activate playwrights, the Alytus City Theater ANNOUNCES the beginning of the playwright competition for the tenth time. Are you writing? Which one? Got ideas? It’s time to put words on white sheets of paper and say: “I can”.
„The Republican Playwrights Competition is a part of the international theater festival COM•MEDIA, which is gaining more and more importance every year, introducing new names of playwrights and encouraging the creation of active ones, so now, earlier than last year, I invite you to hurry up and participate in the competition”, invites theater director Inesa Pilvelytė.
According to the regulations of the Playwrights Competition (added), anyone who wants to present and share their creations can participate in the competition. One-act or multi-act plays, scripts and other dramatic works of comedy and related genres can be submitted to the competition. One author can submit no more than 2 works.
There are no restrictions on age or creative experience. The works are evaluated by a special commission, which includes representatives of the Lithuanian Writers’ Union, theater creators, theater experts, and Lithuanianists.
Readings of the best plays selected by the commission will take place on the final evening of the festival’s dramaturg competition. Readings are presented by actors.
Cash prizes are awarded to the winners of I-III places. The audience chooses their favorite reading of the play. The author of the play is awarded the audience prize.
