With the single “NeverStop” Alison Goldfrapp has released the second single from her album “The Love Invention”, which will be released in May. Or the fourth – depending on how you calculate. After the London singer-songwriter released “Digging Deeper” and “Fever,” she described the songs as “collaborative remixes” with Claptone and Paul Woolford, respectively. Versions of previously unreleased songs from her upcoming solo debut, which will accompany the actual album alongside collaborations with Röyksopp and Niina. This circumstance seemed to explain the turning to the dance floor, which Goldfrapp and her duo of the same name had never done so radically. Although Goldfrapp had undergone a number of changes after their trip-hop beginnings, they had never taken a stand in the club as vehemently as these remixes.

The first real Alison Goldfrapp solo single was not miles away from the remixes. While the beat on “So Hard So Hot” didn’t pump quite as fast, it was still closer to Róisín Murphy’s house and disco phase than to Goldfrapp, the duo. The kick drum bangs consistently and wildly determined in our track of the day. The synth bass massage gives the club crowd a friendly nudge in the stomach and evokes memories of early Chicago house records. And the anthemic chorus is also full of youthful rave spirit: the wish that the magical moment should never end.

Alison Goldfrapp’s album The Love Invention will be released on May 12, 2023 via Skint/BMG. The song “NeverStop”, which was previously released as a single, is our track of the day today. Hear and watch it here:
