Alicante breaks a temperature record: 38.5 degrees, the highest record in five years | Radio Alicante | Present

The city of Alicante has set a maximum temperature of 38.5 degrees on Tuesday, the highest record since July 31, 2016, when the thermometers reached 38.8 degrees.

The pre-coastal areas of Alicante and Valencia are on orange alert for temperatures that could reach between 39 and 40 degrees Celsius, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

In addition to the 38.5 degrees measured in Alicante this afternoon, 37 were measured at the Alicante-Elche Airport; 36.9 in Xàtiva (Valencia); 36.7 in Ontinyent (Valencia); 36.4 in València and Polinyà de Xúquer; 36 in Manises; 35.4 in Lliria; 34.8 in Alcoi (Alicante); 32.5 in Benidorm; or 29.7 in Castelló.

From Emergencies of the Generalitat they recommend drinking plenty of water, wearing light clothing and avoiding physical exercise and going out to the street in the central hours of the day to avoid suffering from heat stroke.
