The Head of State received Jon Finer, Deputy Principal National Security Advisor of the United States on August 2 in Libreville.
Dispatched by US President Joe Biden, the Deputy Senior National Security Advisor of the United States discussed with the Head of State on matters of cooperation between their two countries. During their meeting, the Deputy Principal National Security Advisor of the United States “underscored the Biden administration’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relationships with African nations to address global challenges and advance common interests”.
It also highlighted the importance of Gabon “as a partner of the United States, including our security cooperation in the Gulf of Guinea and the Central African region. They also discussed common commitments, such as efforts to combat climate change., we learn. The meeting took place in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Hermann Immongault and Minister of the Environment Lee White.
Note that the meeting between the Head of State and the Deputy Principal National Security Advisor of the United States took place a few weeks before the organization of the general elections in Gabon, namely on August 26, 2023.
