It took three holes, then Alex Norén rolled in a putt of just over a meter and the birdie hunt was in full swing in McKinney, outside Dallas.
When the first nine holes were completed, Norén stood on four birdies and the rest par, and the Swede climbed slowly in the results list. And that climb continued steadily during Friday’s last nine holes. There were four more birdies and five pairs and when the Swede looked up at the scoreboard he could see that only one player had done better.
