Alex memorial concert will take place in Lielvārde in August

On August 6, in Lielvārde Park, next to the historic castle ruins on the banks of the Daugava, a concert dedicated to the memory of Alex (1962–2021), a long-time singer of the group Opus Pro, who passed away at the end of last year, will take place.

The concert will feature the golden line-up of the band “Opus Pro”, singer and Alex’s daughter Aija Andrejeva, guitarist and author of many of the band’s hits Harijs Zariņš, composer Zigmars Liepiņš, musician Uldis Marhilevičs, singers Jānis Aišpurs, Ivo Fomins, Dināra Rudāne, Olga Rajāne Atis Ieviņš, guitarists Ainars Virga and Armands Alksnis, the groups “Dagamba”, “Credo”, “Colt”, “Very Cool People”, “Happiness Complete” and “Time Dog”, as well as many others.

“When Dad passed away, after a while I felt the need to have a proper rock concert in his memory, featuring his friends, like-minded people and contemporaries, as well as artists inspired by Opus Pro music.” says Aija Andrejeva, who is the author of the idea for this concert.

“It simply came to our notice then. I want people to remember him, and this is such a blessing for myself. It will be both a show of honor and honor, and another farewell, because he left, both as my dad and as a stage partner. And this is another pain to survive. And I think Dad would like an event like that. It’s that simple. ”

Regarding the choice of the concert venue, Aija says: “I am very pleased that the concert will take place in Lielvārde, where I was born and lived with my family for many years, where Alex lived all his life, except for the last six years in Ogre. The park where the concert will take place is a very special place for all of us, and in fact Dad always had plans and dreams that concerts could take place there, because this is one of the most beautiful places in Latvia, and it has always been special for him. ”

The concert is scheduled to feature all of Opus Pro’s most beautiful songs, including a song that may have been forgotten for a long time. “For example, the cello group Dagamba will offer their improvisation on one of Opus Pro’s songs.” one of the songs in the group. There will also be an Opus Pro gold line-up with Zigmar Liepins, and they will play good old hits. I think it will be very, very cool! ” thinks Aija Andrejeva.
