Albert “Ali” Deplazes will retire at the end of this month. Just with an “anniversary”, as the gimmick with a period calculator reveals: Exactly 2500 weeks after that April 1, 1974, when Deplazes started his career as an apprentice car mechanic, so it’s over. It is unusual and remarkable that Albert Deplazes was on the payslip of the same employer, Riet-Garage AG in Sevelen, for each of these 2,500 weeks – and thus for his entire professional life.
