Al Ain Club and Dutch Coach Alfred Schroeder Part Ways

Al Ain Club, the giant of the UAE Professional Football League, announced on Wednesday its separation from its Dutch coach, Alfred Schroeder, by mutual consent.

The club said on the “X” social media platform: “An agreement was reached with Dutch coach Schroeder to terminate his contract by mutual consent, due to the lack of harmony between the coach and his assistant technical staff with the company’s institutional work system.”

He added: “We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Dutch coach for the efforts he made with the team during his tenure as coach, wishing him success in his future career.”

According to Reuters, the club indicated that it would announce the new coach “in the coming hours.”

Al Ain signed 51-year-old Schroeder last May after the departure of coach Sergei Rebrov.

Schroeder was dismissed from training at Ajax Amsterdam due to poor results last January.

There were reports linking Schroeder to the possibility of moving to coach Al-Ittihad, the Saudi champions, after dismissing the services of coach Nuno Espirito Santo, but the Dutch coach denied them.

Al Ain advanced to the knockout rounds of the AFC Champions League after Kodjo Laba scored two goals in a 3-2 win over host Al Fayhaa of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Al Ain raised its score to 12 points, achieving the full score from four matches, placing it eight points ahead of Pakhtakor of Uzbekistan and Ahal after their 1-1 draw in Turkmenistan.

The team occupies third place in the UAE League with 15 points, two points behind the top two, Al-Wasl and Shabab Al-Ahly.
