Air France continues to expand its service to North America, one of the most dynamic areas of its route network. In winter 2023/4, the airline will operate up to 212 flights per week to 21 destinations in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Raleigh-Durham, the gateway to the ‘Research Triangle’

As of October 30, 2023, Air France has a new US destination on its route network: Raleigh-Durham (RDU). The North Carolina capital will be Air France’s 14th U.S. destination this winter, following Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York JFK, New York Newark, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington DC. There are three direct flights each week from Paris-Charles de Gaulle, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with a 279-seat Boeing 787-9 (30 Business, 21 Premium Economy and 228 Economy).

Flight schedule (in local time):

AF692: Departs Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 1.30pm, arrives at Raleigh-Durham International at 4.35pm.

AF693: Departs Raleigh-Durham International at 18:45, arrives at Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 08:25 the next day.

In addition to the opening of the connection to Raleigh-Durham, the frequency of flights to/from Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) will be increased from three to five flights per week in the winter season compared to 2022.

Raleigh, the North Carolina capital, and its neighboring cities of Durham and Chapel Hill are home to three renowned universities and together form the ‘Research Triangle’, recognized nationally as a center for education, research and innovation and the second largest high-tech industrial hub in the world after Silicon Valley USA and one of the most important research and development centers in the country.

This route was previously served by Delta Air Lines, Air France’s partner in the transatlantic joint venture between Air France, KLM, Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic.

Up to 38 weekly flights to Canada

Further north, Air France plans to expand its service to/from Canada. As the European airline with the largest capacity between Europe and Canada, Air France will connect Paris-Charles de Gaulle with Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Ottawa this winter.

The direct connection between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Ottawa, introduced on June 27, will also be offered in the winter season. There are five flights per week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, with a Boeing 787-9 with 279 seats (30 Business, 21 Premium Economy and 228 Economy).

Flight schedule (in local time):

AF328: Departs Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 1:10 p.m., arrives in Ottawa at 3:05 p.m.

AF327: Departs Ottawa at 5:15 p.m., arrives Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 6:05 a.m. the next day.

Air France is the only airline to offer direct flights between Ottawa and Europe.

Connections to Montreal and Vancouver will be expanded, with up to 21 and 5 flights per week respectively. Last winter there were 17 or 3 flights per week.

Canada and the French Antilles

From December 2, 2023, Air France will resume the seasonal connection between Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe) and Montreal with two flights per week on Tuesdays and Saturdays in an Airbus A320 with Wifi. Montreal is one of the five destinations on Air France’s regional Caribbean network, connecting Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe) and Fort-de-France (Martinique) with Belém (Brazil), Cayenne (Guyana), Miami (USA) and Montreal.

KLM with 19 destinations in North America

KLM will connect the Amsterdam Schiphol hub to 19 destinations in North America: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Calgary, Cancun, Chicago, Edmonton, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Montreal, New York JFK, San Francisco, Toronto, Vancouver and Washington DC.

Both airlines offer a shuttle service in Canada. Air France between Montréal-Trudeau, Québec and Ottawa and KLM between Montréal-Trudeau and Ottawa. (OF)
