Ahold Delhaize’s Non-Grocery Revenue Set to Reach 1 Billion Euros by 2025 through Advertising and Consumer Data Sales

Ahold Delhaize, the parent company of supermarket chains Albert Heijn and Delhaize, earns more and more money from activities other than selling groceries. Advertising sales on its own sites and the resale of consumer behavior data should bring in around 1 billion euros in 2025.

“What we receive in media revenues, we invest in our company to ensure that people can continue to afford healthy and sustainable products,” says CEO Frans Muller. Reuters.

When a customer clicks on a third-party ad or sponsored product on an Ahold Delhaize site, the company earns money. How many? That’s not what Muller wants to say. The insights about consumer behavior are encrypted so that they cannot be traced back to a person.

The Dutch-Belgian group has copied the trick of making money from advertising from Amazon.
