Agnetha Fältskog, Former ABBA Singer, Returns with New Solo Album After 10 Years

ABBA icon Agnetha Fältskog, 73, has released her first new single in ten years while also announcing a new solo album. The singer announced that the album, titled “A+,” will be released on October 13.

The album’s first single, Where Do We Go From Here?, was pre-released by the Swedish singer. According to dpa, it is a “catchy, contemporary pop song with a feel-good factor”.

Lovers of nostalgic ABBA music will also get their money’s worth, according to the news agency, not least because of Agnetha Fältskog’s soft Swedish accent and her “timeless, legendary” voice, which at 73 years of age is unheard of.

“Where Do We Go From Here?” is the only completely new song on the forthcoming album “A+”. Most of the album will be a reinterpretation of her last solo album “A” from 2013.

A few years ago, Fältskog heard a song by “A” on the radio and wondered how the album would sound today if re-produced, she explained on Instagram. She then contacted the producers at the time.

“Some time later I heard the first revised song and I have to say I absolutely loved it,” she said. “It sounded so fresh and modern, even better than I imagined!”

In the 1970s and early 1980s, Fältskog was a member of the legendary Swedish group ABBA along with Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid “Frida” Lyngstad. The group became world famous with hits like “Waterloo”, “Dancing Queen”, “Knowing Me, Knowing You” and “Super Trouper”.

Later in her career, Fältskog released the solo albums Wrap Your Arms Around Me (1983), Eyes of a Woman (1985) and I Stand Alone (1987). After a longer break, Coloring Book was released in 2004, an album with covers of her favorite songs. “A” finally followed nine years later. In November 2021, ABBA released their first studio album together in almost 40 years. (with dpa)
