Florida’s new spring season opened February 8 through June 12. A program as indicated by the director Florent Bénéteau, with a tone that highlights the diversity, the balance of musical styles and many new features: “90% of artists who have never yet come to Florida, a greater share of collaborations with the Ducourneau theater, the Image Showmen, Voix du Sud in Astaffort, Un à l’Autre in Monflanquin, and a poster more feminine than in previous years “. And finally, the Beat Box Festival with a European dimension, which wants to make Florida in Agen one of the centerpieces of the international scene. About ten countries are represented there and four continents: Africa, America, Singapore and Europe. A festival that for 3 years has called 3,000 views on Youtube and nearly 20,000 people connected live in Florida across the planet.
The DNA of the amplified music center is to give pride of place to the local scene with 20% of groups from Agen and its surroundings which are part of the program for this spring.
The proximity card remains Florida’s commitment. It serves as a spearhead for emerging talents who rely on the musical stages of tomorrow. “The Florida is a living organism that is part of the long term, with people. A non-frozen organism always in motion.”
Fränek exhibits at the bar
The new season opened yesterday with music and the exhibition set up in the bar, by Fräneck, a Toulouse illustrator with a Fine Arts degree. He has covered the last two “Florida News”.
The artist presents a number of concert posters, as well as original drawings. But the Florida also includes rehearsals in the four studios equipped with the place and a fifth dedicated from the beginning to computer-assisted music. It has just been renamed “Le Labo” and converted into a space for experimental creation. Open stages, residences, cultural actions, instrumental lessons in bass, drums, guitar, complemented by singing, and musical awakening open to children and their parents, are part of the activities throughout the year.
