Against Grab, AirAsia Offers Ojol Driver Rp 10 Million/Month Salary

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – AirAsia’s parent is serious about working on the online transportation business in Malaysia. The proof is that they offer drivers a minimum salary of RM3,000 (Rp 10 million) per month and are permanent employees.

Drivers will also get other benefits. In the form of an Employee Providence Fund (EPF) savings account or old age insurance and Social Security Organizations (Sosco) or work accident insurance. They also get health insurance, annual leave to travel allowances.

Information only, currently Malaysia only allows the operation of online taxi services. The biggest player in this business is Grab. Meanwhile, Gojek has not yet entered Malaysia.

AirAsia also doesn’t seem worried that it will be flooded with job applicants. Head of Brand Shipping Lim Ben-Jie said the company had a proper screening process in place before hiring them.

He added that the potential for rider growth would benefit the company as a significant player in the super-app sector, along with Grab and FoodPanda. Air Asia also does not plan to stop the recruitment process, he said.

“I don’t think we have any plans to temporarily halt our current recruitment policy, because we want to grow. We currently have 20 permanent riders and are looking for more in the future,” explained Lim Ben-Jie.
