Again a staff member of a Dutch hospital is infected with the corona virus. Last night a nurse from the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven contracted the virus. Earlier in the day it was announced that one employee of the OLVG hospital is infected in Amsterdam.
The employee in Eindhoven probably contracted the virus while nursing a patient who was diagnosed with the virus on Monday. All patients from the ward where the nurse worked are being further nursed in isolation. This is a part of the surgery department, which has 13 patients.
Those people are now being tested for the corona virus. No patients will be admitted to the ward for the time being. A contact investigation has also been initiated among patients and staff of the department. The Catharina Hospital emphasizes that planned operations can continue as usual and that the care in all other departments proceeds as normal.
The RIVM reported yesterday afternoon in its daily update that 15 new infections had been added on Tuesday, bringing the total to 38. The employee in Eindhoven is not among them. RIVM will release new figures later today.
