AG2R removes trio from Tour de Limousin after positive corona test Warbasse | NOW

AG2R rider Larry Warbasse has tested positive for the corona virus. Teammates Geoffrey Bouchard, Axel Domont and Ben Gastauer, who rode the Tour of Lombardy on Saturday, just like the American, were removed from the Tour of Limousin on Friday as a precaution.

AG2R reports in a statement on the site that Warbasse has no symptoms. The thirty-year-old climber, like all WorldTour riders, is regularly tested by his team for COVID-19.

Bouchard, Domont and Gastauer have not tested positive, but they have recently been in contact with Warbasse due to their participation in the Tour of Lombardy.

AG2R does not want to take any risks, so the trio will no longer get on Friday for the fourth and final stage of the Tour de Limousin. Bouchard and Domont will also not participate in the road race at the French championships on Sunday.

Warbasse, Bouchard, Domont and Gastauer are not in the pre-selection of AG2R for the Tour de France (29 August-20 September).

The Tour de France will also have very strict corona rules. From a safety protocol shared with all participating teams, and in the hands of VeloNews, it appeared earlier in the day that teams with two or more infections will be removed from the Tour.
