After Spielberg also dial tone for Formula 1 in Silverstone – South Tyrol News

In Austria and Great Britain there is the approval of the respective governments for the conduct of Formula 1 races. Accordingly, double events could take place on July 5 and 12 in Spielberg and on August 2 and 9 in Silverstone. There is still no statement from the racing series itself, but the dial tone is expected this week.

In the early Saturday afternoon, Austrian Minister of Health Rudolf Anschober virtually waved the starting flag for the start of the Formula 1 season. The security concept checked corresponds to “the requirements in the Corona period”. Among other things, the health concept provides that pilots and Formula 1 personnel can be tested before entering Austria, and extensive measures are also planned in Spielberg. Spectators are not allowed.

The ministry called for the organizer to coordinate closely with the health authorities. According to the Epidemic Act, these are the State Medical Directorate of Styria and the District Authority Murtal, which is also where the final decision-making power lies. When asked by APA, deputy district captain Peter Plöbst said that the operators would go through the concept again and clarify detailed questions.

Red Bull motorsport consultant Helmut Marko is one of the few from Formula 1 who has officially commented on Spielberg so far. “It is very important for Formula 1 that it starts. It is an opportunity for Austria as a tourism and exporting country because it will be the first digital world sporting event to take place. We are happy and proud of Austria, ”said Marko. “The Spielberg project as the organizer is well prepared. You have already prepared, so there is now enough time. ”

As the BBC reported late on Sunday evening, the English government gave its approval for two Formula 1 races in early August. The team members, drivers and other people therefore do not have to go into the actually prescribed two-week quarantine. An official confirmation from the government is still pending.

“We welcome the government’s efforts to ensure that top-class sport can continue and also support for the return of racing,” a BBC Formula 1 spokesman is quoted as saying. “We will have a close dialogue with them over the coming weeks as we prepare to start our season in the first week of July.”

Between Spielberg and Silverstone, the plans include a race in Hungary (July 19). However, there is still no calendar for how the season could go.
